Round where I live we have quite a few charity shops which I like to go in from time to time to look for...more interesting items. If you look hard enough you're bound to find some strange bits in them. This is one of those pieces I bought a few months back... It's a kitten....surrounded by fairies! Well it's either that or these faires have turned a child into a kitten which seems more likely.
It's so tacky and cheesy but there's something about it I love. The picture is also has a shiny iridescence to it which means depending on the angle you look at it it changes colour (but also means it's a pain to take a good picture of it) I like to believe this picture is haunted and has ended up in charity shops many times when the owners realised this, until it found its way to me...I will let you know if I hear any phantom meows in the night... I am a terribly disorganised person, and a little bit messy too! To try and get myself organised better I decided to get a Filofax and some cute stationary to help me on my quest! This post is going to be image heavy to show you everything I've bought! Up first is the Filofax, which I bought online from WHSmith. There were so many lovely ones to pick from but most were a bit pricey for me, but this one for under £20 it suited my price range perfectly! Everything else I bought was from Artbox. They have so many cute things and I had to stop myself from buying more! First up are these two deco tapes. They had so many wonderful styles but these 2 were my favourite! I also got myself some Rilakkuma tape. I've recently got into Rilakkuma stuff so I had to buy this! I'm also someone who gets stressed and anxious too easily so I'm hoping to take on this bears relaxed state! I also got some Rilakkuma sticky notes for my Filofax and a folder to keep my paper work in to keep my desk a little tidier. I also got this Mamegoma folder too as it was adorable and dammit I wanted it! Lastly I bought some stickers. I really like all 3 but my favourite it definitely the dinosaur ones, I love them! I have a feeling I will run out of these first and will be ordering some more in no time.
I'm so happy with my purchases! I would have bought more but I'm going to Hyper Japan this weekend so I needed some spending money for that (oh my poor wallet...) I decided to join instagram and you can find me here!
It will be photos for this blog, for my work on Knucker's Hollow, and also random photos as well so come have a look and and maybe follow me! Ok well they're a mystery to me as I can't remember what they are and I can't read what's written on them, boo! I bought these as I liked the packaging, and as these were small they were pretty cheap so I threw them in my basket forgetting to actually check what they were...oops... First up are these ones! the kids on the front of the packet are rather worrying with their axes and mischievous looks on their faces. Since I can't read the packaging I just have to hope it doesn't say something along the lines of if you eat the sweets these children will appear next to your bed at midnight holding axes, gah! Well time to try the sweets and if you dont hear back from me you'll know what happened... They're bubble gum! At first I thought they were really squishy jelly beans as they had a crunchy coating, but after a couple of chews I realised it was gum. Though the flavour was nice, I wasn't able to tell the exactly what it was other than some kind of fruit, possibly apple. I was happy with how long it kept its taste and softness as many gums I've tried in the past go flavourless and hard within a couple of minutes. You can also blow decent bubbles with the stuff but you need all 6 for that! Onto the next one! Poor adorable shivery penguin. Although it's its own fault it's so cold as it only has a hat on. Get a jacket and maybe you'll stop shivering, silly penguin! Looking at the packaging, I have a feeling this might be gum too. The inside packaging is so cute, I especially like the little devil!
The what I assume to be gum smells like minty fruit so time to try it and see if it tastes like that too, It was gum, really weird gum at that! As I chewed it, the gum felt as though it was getting colder, making my tongue feel a little numb in the process, but it wasn't unpleasant, just unusual! I guess now we know why that penguin was so shivery. You can also blow pretty good bubbles with this gum too but takes a little but of chewing to get it soft enough. Again the taste is really hard to describe other than fruity, possibly blue raspberry. Overall I would say they are both worth a try if you like gum, and I will be buying them again! After many months of work I am self employed with my business, Knucker's Hollow! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Knuckers-Hollow/221432138054520 I won't be turning this into a blog of constant information about my business but will from time to time post about where I put work up for sale and if I'm doing a craft fair and when along with the usual content! After all the work I've been up to, I think It's time for an appropriate named beer! I picked this up at Middle Farm in East Sussex on Sunday after seeing the name of it and had to give it a try!
It smells pretty malty and the taste...yup as the description on the back says it's pretty malty in taste too, and quite sweet. It's not as bitter as I expected it to be and all over I think it's a pretty nice beer, and worth giving a try. Due to the sweetness though it's a not a drink you could down many of, and is more of a beer you sip over an evening. This year I was able to go to Jack in the green (detailed info about it can be seen here)
It's held every year in Hastings and involves among other things, a parade with people dressed up in different costumes, dancers, and musicians, which was great fun to watch! Many of the people watching the parade also dress up, by having flower or ivy hair wreaths and dressed mainly in green. Since this was my first one I didn't dress up but if I go again, I am definitely going to dress up for it. If it sounds like something you would enjoy and can get to Hastings, I would say go! In the mean time here are some photos from the day to give you more of a feel for it, enjoy! Just a quick message to say I have been super busy setting up my business and now have made a Facebook page for all my stuff so pop on by if would like to see why I haven't been posting on here as much as I should (oops!)
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Knuckers-Hollow/221432138054520 On today's menu I thought I would try this! These are two flavours I love! Green apple (which is usually sour) is one of my favourite flavours of sweets and when it comes to Jalapeno's or spicy stuff in general I eat it just about every day. Though I'm not sure how well these flavours are matched so let's find out...
Alas I think mine has gone off! I've had for around a month and didn't put it in the fridge (when I bought it it wasn't in a fridge so I thought it would be ok) such a shame... I can still taste green apple and there's a kick of chilli but it has this weird plasticine taste that's terrible. I may buy it again sometime to see if this one was off or if that's just how it tastes. From now on I will make sure these things are put in the fridge so hopefully this won't happen again! Well err...updating every week has not gone as planned...
I have been kinda busy of late and so scheduling of some stuff has been off including this blog :( I am trying to get stuff in order so just wanted to update you! I am starting a business and so been working on all that stuff. If you wanna see more about this you can go on my Tumblr for it or my Deviantart page. I bought a couple things for this site so will from next week get back on track with my blog :) |
